Dubai International Airport (DXB) has taken another step toward inclusive travel by launching a state-of-the-art Assisted Travel Lounge at Terminal 2. This innovative lounge, the first of its kind globally, is designed specifically for people of determination, providing a calm, spacious, and accessible environment for travelers with unique needs.
Among its standout features is a dedicated ‘stress relief area’ tailored for individuals with autism, offering a peaceful retreat in the midst of the bustling airport. The lounge also includes thoughtful design elements like contrasting surfaces to assist visually impaired travelers and seating positioned near staff for easier communication with those who have hearing challenges.
The space is large enough to accommodate wheelchairs and ensures comfort for travelers requiring additional support, including unaccompanied minors.
A product of collaboration between Dubai Airports and dnata, this lounge is part of a broader multi-million-dirham initiative aimed at improving accessibility across all terminals. This launch aligns with Dubai Airports’ inclusive strategy, which also includes initiatives such as the ‘Sunflower Ribbon Programme,’ ensuring travelers with hidden disabilities receive priority assistance throughout their journey, from security checks to boarding.
The new Assisted Travel Lounge will officially open on Monday, September 30, 2024, marking another milestone in DXB’s efforts to provide a seamless, welcoming experience for all passengers.
