Emirates has commenced its inaugural service from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Ivato International Airport (TNR) in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Flight EK 707, which arrived on September 4, 2024, was celebrated with a water cannon salute.
The Emirates delegation was welcomed by Malagasy President Andry Rajoelina, the First Lady, and other dignitaries. Notably, First Officer Solo Chuk, a Malagasy national and Emirates pilot for 14 years, was part of the inaugural flight crew.
The new service offers three classes: eight private suites in first class, 42 lie-flat seats in business class, and 310 seats in economy. Emirates Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim highlighted the importance of Madagascar as a destination rich in natural beauty and culture, supporting the country’s tourism growth goal of attracting one million visitors by 2028.
The Dubai-Antananarivo flights (via Seychelles) are scheduled as follows:
- EK707: Departs Dubai at 08:55, arrives in Mahe at 13:35, continues to Antananarivo arriving at 16:50.
- EK708: Departs Antananarivo at 18:35, lands in Mahe at 22:20, departs Mahe at 23:50, and arrives in Dubai at 04:20 the next day.
The service operates four times a week: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
