Dubai-based airline flydubai has launched operations to Basel, Switzerland, becoming the first UAE carrier to do so. The inaugural flight touched down at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) on Wednesday and was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute. Senior airport officials and a delegation led by Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, were present to mark the occasion.
With the introduction of flights to Basel, flydubai expands its European network to 29 destinations, including cities such as Budapest, Catania, Krakow, Milan-Bergamo, Prague, Salzburg, and Zagreb. The new four-times-weekly service will operate from Dubai International (DXB) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Passengers traveling from Basel will now have convenient connections to popular holiday destinations including Kenya, the Maldives, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand via Dubai’s aviation hub.
The route will be serviced by flydubai’s Boeing 737 MAX aircraft fleet. Emirates will also offer codeshare on this route, providing passengers with more options for connections through Dubai’s international aviation hub.
Return Business Class fares from DXB to BSL start at Dh13,000, while Economy Class Lite fares begin at Dh1,500.
Basel, renowned as Switzerland’s cultural capital, is home to numerous museums and boasts a mix of historic and modern architecture. With flydubai’s new service, travelers from the UAE and beyond can now explore this vibrant city with ease.
