Dubai airport prepares for busiest January in DXB history

Dubai International (DXB) is bracing for a record-breaking start to 2025, with an expected 4.3 million passengers passing through the airport in the first 15 days. This surge will make it the busiest January in the airport’s history, surpassing pre-pandemic traffic levels from 2018-2019.

The daily number of passengers is forecast to peak today, with over 311,000 travelers anticipated. This surge is attributed to the wave of international visitors departing after the festive season, along with residents returning from holiday trips. During this period, an average of 287,000 people will pass through DXB each day, an 8% increase over the same period in 2024 and 6% higher than pre-pandemic figures.

To ensure a smooth journey, passengers are urged to plan ahead and follow key airport rules:

  • Only passengers will be allowed inside the terminals during peak hours, so it’s best to say goodbye at home.
  • Families with children over 12 can use the smart gates to speed up passport control.
  • Double-check your baggage, and remember to pack metal items and electronics in your hand luggage.
  • Comply with regulations on liquids, aerosols, and gels.
  • Keep portable electronic devices, power banks, and spare batteries in your hand luggage, as they are not allowed in checked-in luggage.
  • Create a checklist of travel documents and familiarize yourself with your airline’s baggage policies to avoid any surprises.
