Passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travelers, surged to a record 44.9 million in the first half of 2024, according to an announcement by Dubai Airports. This marks an 8% increase from 41.6 million passengers during the same period in 2023 and sets the stage for a new annual high.
Dubai Airports’ Chief Executive Paul Griffiths highlighted the airport’s growing global significance, stating, “The record-breaking performance in the first half of this year underscores our strategic importance as a global aviation hub.”
Looking ahead, Griffiths expressed optimism, projecting that the airport will reach 91.8 million annual passengers by the end of 2024, surpassing its previous record of 89.1 million set in 2018. Last year, the airport welcomed 86.9 million passengers.
