1. Visa
Do I need a visa for a Dubai stopover?
Visitors from most countries are allocated a 30-day visit visa on arrival to Dubai, which is free and stamped on your passport at immigration. Since June 2018, transit flyers are exempt from all entry fees for the first 48 hours. The visa can be obtained at express counters across UAE airports and can be extended for up to four days for a fee of AED 50. Only visitors with a confirmed onward journey and hotel reservations are eligible for a short-term transit visa.
Do I need a separate visa for Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
No, a visa for Dubai is valid across all seven Emirates of the UAE, including Abu Dhabi.
2. Dubai Connect
Does my stopover qualify for Dubai Connect services?
Dubai Connect services are available for passengers with a stopover time of 10 to 24 hours in Economy Class (or 8 to 26 hours for bookings made after 11 October 2022) and 6 to 26 hours for First Class or Business Class. The connecting flight must be the best available option. If an earlier flight is available, you won’t qualify for Dubai Connect. How can I transfer between terminals at Dubai International Airport?
Dubai International Airport provides a free shuttle bus service and an inter-terminal train (available for Terminals 1 and 3) to help you transfer between terminals.

How can I access public transportation from the airport (Metro, taxi, buses)?
Dubai Metro is accessible from Terminals 1 and 3. Taxis are available at all terminals, and buses also operate from the airport. Taxi ranks and bus stops are located outside the arrivals area.

Can I leave the airport during a layover in Dubai?
Yes, if your layover is long enough and you qualify for a visa on arrival, you can leave the airport to explore Dubai. Make sure you have enough time to return, pass through security, and catch your next flight.

No, checked baggage cannot be brought into the terminal. If your luggage is tagged only to Dubai, you can transfer it to your next flight at the Connection Desk inside the airport. Always confirm luggage transfer details with your airline.
