Free iftar boxes handed out in Dubai airports

Carrefour and Dubai-based consumer giant Alokozay are handing out more than 100,000 boxes across Dubai International Airport or Dubai World Central throughout the month. All passengers arriving into the airports can pick up a box from 6.30pm every day.

They will be available to collect for two hours and will have water, dates, tea bags, wafer bites and a tasbih inside. A misbahah, or tasbih, is a string of beads which is often used by Muslims to keep track of counting in tasbih.

It’s estimated around 100kg of dates will be handed out in DXB alone. For those who are travelling into Dubai for the first time, expected to see certain areas of the airport will require those who are not fasting to eat and drink in designated sections that are screened off in public places.

Ramadan is expected to start on Sunday May 5 and go on until Tuesday June 4.
