Waxwork Museum Madame Tussauds to open in Dubai

Famous waxwork museum Madame Tussauds is to open in Dubai later this year. The tourist attraction lets visitors see realistic figures of top celebrities, politicians and athletes. It’s set to open on Bluewaters Island Dubai later this year, although the exact dates and other details haven’t yet been released.

The attraction will be the first of its kind in the Middle East, joining venues in cities around the world including London, New York City and Beijing. Some of the most popular figures in the London museum – which set up shop in Baker Street in 1835 – include US president Donald Trump, actor Benedict Cumberbatch and even artist Vincent Van Gogh.

It’s not yet known which famous faces will feature in the Dubai museum, but we can’t wait to snap a few selfies. Plans for the museum were officially announced in 2016, but the details have only just been confirmed now. We’ll be bringing you all the latest updates on the opening, so keep an eye on TimeOutDubai.com.

If you’re after another taste of celebrity in the city, Dubai is getting its own Hollywood-style ‘Walk of Fame’ with stars for 10,000 celebrities and influencers. The project will pay tribute to “eminent personalities who have positively influenced the world through their work” across various fields including music, film, art, sports and literature.

Social influencers will also be celebrated, with the public asked to vote for the first 400 names in an online nominations process. The Walk of Fame will be set along the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai and will be four times the size of the legendary walkway in Hollywood. The first phase will be unveiled in October at a glittering mega-event attended by the 400 featured celebrities.
