Air India passengers to UAE get extra 10kg check-in allowance

Earlier this month, Air India revealed plans to increase its operations to Dubai with four more direct flights to the emirate from destinations in the southern part of the country. Passengers travelling to the UAE by Air India can now check-in 40kg of luggage. The national carrier has increased the baggage allowance by 10kg, according to local reports in India.

The national carrier has increased the baggage allowance by 10kg, according to local reports in India. According to Air India chairman and managing director (CMD) Ashwini Lohani, the changes will be implemented immediately.“As demanded by the people here, Air India will allow passengers to carry 40kgs as luggage in the check-in besides the usual 7kg that the traveller carries as hand baggage,” Ashwini Lohani is quoted as saying.

Earlier this month, Air India revealed plans to increase its operations to Dubai with four more direct flights to the emirate from destinations in the southern part of the country.

Air India will launch its new flights from Hyderabad, Kozhikode (Calicut), Kochi and the newly opened Kannur. These services will be in addition to the airline’s existing flights to Dubai from these cities, except for Kannur.

The new Dubai flights will launch as part of Air India’s winter schedule, commencing from October, a senior executive with the airline told Arabian Business.
